The report includes the following:

  2. Fault Description & Resolution: Original fault symptom, list of replaced parts (e.g., battery, seals, stylus, PCB), repair summary
  3. Performance Test Data:
    • Unidirectional repeatability test (2σ value, in μm)
    • Measured trigger force values in each direction (±X, ±Y, ±Z)
    • Signal transmission stability test results (optical/radio signal strength)
    • Environmental seal inspection (seals, optical window cleanliness, etc.)
  4. Calibration Conclusion: Whether the device meets factory specifications and is ready for operational use
  5. Warranty Information: Warranty period and coverage after repair

The report is signed by the inspecting technician and stamped with the company seal. Customers can trace the results using the repair reference number.


Probe battery: DIY replacement or send-in?

Q: My Renishaw OMP40-2 / OMP60 probe battery is dead. Can I replace it myself, or should I send it to you?

A:

Both options are viable, but they differ in risk and outcome.

DIY Battery Replacement:

  • Cost: Battery only (OMP40-2 uses a ½AA lithium cell; OMP60 uses 2×AA lithium cells)
  • Risks:
    • Improper handling may damage battery contacts or seals, leading to poor contact or moisture ingress
    • Re-calibration is mandatory after battery replacement — probe length and trigger radius must be re-calibrated or measurement accuracy is not guaranteed
    • Aging optical windows and seals may go undetected, creating latent issues
  • Recommended for: Users with CNC programming experience, access to a calibration ring gauge or master ball, and sufficient time

Send-In Battery Replacement (JCETECH):

Is re-calibration necessary after battery replacement?

  1. Trigger Point Shift Risk: Even slight contact with the probe mechanism during battery replacement can shift the trip point by microns. For probe systems with 1 μm repeatability requirements, this shift can significantly affect measurement results.
  2. Non-Traceable Data: If you use the probe without re-calibration and measurement deviations appear later, you cannot determine whether the cause is calibration drift or equipment failure.
  3. System Parameter Consistency: On Fanuc controls, the O9801 calibration cycle writes the current probe state to the #500 series variables. Running one calibration cycle (approximately 5 minutes) after a battery change ensures these parameters match the current mechanical state.

What is the warranty period for repaired probes?

What is the send-in repair process?

Q: I want to send my probe to you for repair. What is the specific process? How should I pack it? Which courier should I use?

Send-In Repair Process (3 Steps):

Step 1: Consultation & Confirmation

  • Contact us by phone or via our website — provide the device model and fault description
  • We confirm whether repair is possible, whether a loaner unit is needed, and the estimated turnaround time

Step 2: Packaging & Shipping

  • Place the probe/tool setter in an anti-static bag (a clean plastic bag is acceptable if unavailable)
  • Wrap with bubble wrap or lint-free foam, ensuring the device does not move inside the box
  • Use a rigid cardboard box or plastic case as the outer packaging
  • We recommend SF Express (with insurance) — do not use standard postal parcel service
  • Include a note in the package specifying: sender information + device model + fault description + return shipping address

Step 3: Inspection & Feedback

  • Preliminary inspection completed within 1 business day of receipt
  • We share the inspection results, recommended repair plan, and cost estimate
  • Repair begins upon your approval. Once complete, the Repair Test & Acceptance Report is issued and the device is shipped back

Can you repair probes from outside Ningbo? How does it work for out-of-town customers?
